Matrescence

The term “Matrescence” was formulated by anthropologist Dana Raphael in the 1970s. It’s the process of becoming a mother, and it involves the physical, psychological, social, and emotional changes that come with this transition. This term is often compared to adolescence because it involves a profound and sometimes challenging period of change that restructures a person’s identity, brain, and relationships.
